We can, and often do, collaborate with your broader healthcare team – with your consent.
If you have a GP, obstetrician, midwife, maternal child health nurse, or psychiatrist involved in your care, we believe it can be helpful to coordinate with them. For example, with your permission, we might send your GP a short report after your first session or at intervals, so they know you’ve started therapy and what we’re focusing on. This helps ensure everyone supporting you is on the same page.
If you’re on medication or exploring medication for anxiety or depression, we’ll typically liaise with your GP or psychiatrist to monitor how therapy and medication together are helping you. Similarly, if you’re working with a lactation consultant, physiotherapist, or any other specialist (common in the perinatal period), and something relevant comes up in therapy, we can – again, only if you agree – communicate with them or take their input into account.
Our goal is to help provide holistic care.
We understand that your mental health can affect and be affected by your physical health, relationships, and other factors, so we are happy to form a support network around you.
In cases where additional support is needed beyond what we provide (for instance, if you need more intensive psychiatric care or specialized services), we will help with referrals and work collaboratively to transition you to the right service.
Think of us as part of your team: we’re focused on your mental and emotional wellbeing, and we’ll work hand-in-hand with other professionals to support you in the best way possible.
